The lotus flower blooms most beautifully from the deepest and thickest mud.

Psychotherapy is a complex but profoundly rewarding process of examining one's life, history, desires, relationships, hopes, and fears in order to open up new possibilities and make new meaning out of one's experience. While our desires change through life, our past experiences may keep us stuck in unhelpful patterns that prevent us from reaching our full potential and living a meaningful, satisfying life. We may find ourselves experiencing emotional distress, anxiety, pain, or struggling with a life issue that we have been unable to resolve. We may long for a deeper connection with ourselves or yearn for more satisfying relationships with others. Psychotherapy can provide you the opportunity to learn new ways of responding to problems so that you can create a more satisfying and authentic existence.  Like the lotus, you too have the ability to rise from the mud, bloom out of the darkness, and radiate wellness, no matter where your roots lie.

I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds in my practice. I strive to provide culturally-responsive services, and I am sensitive to the unique needs and challenges faced by marginalized communities, such as ethnic, gender, and sexual minorities. I have worked extensively with People of Color, including Latinx, African-American, and Asian-American individuals. My practice is sex-positive, trauma-informed, and affirming of folks from LGBTQ, Kink and Poly communities.  I am also a native Spanish-speaker, and I can provide bilingual (Spanish and English) psychotherapy.

For most people, finding a therapist and embarking on the therapy process may be a daunting process. You may be wondering what therapy will be like, how you will react, and whether the experience will be helpful and meaningful to you. I’ve provided information about my practice on this website with the hope of demystifying the therapy process and providing you an introduction to the services I offer. I encourage you to take a look at the pages on this website to see if I might be the right therapist for you. Of course, the best way to gather information about the work we may do and our potential fit is to contact me for a face-to-face meeting.

I welcome the opportunity to discuss your needs together.
